Terrain Reconstruction from Multiple Views

چکیده
Abstrac t . A two-stage approach is discussed for reconstructing a dense digital elevation model (DEM) of the terrain from multiple pre-calibrated images taken by distinct cameras at different time under various illumination. First, the terrain DEM and orthoimage are obtained by independent voxel-based reconstruction of the terrain points using simple relations between the corresponding image gray values. As distinct from other approaches, possible occlusions and changing shadow layouts are taken into account implicitly by evaluating a confidence of every reconstructed terrain point. Then, the reconstructed DEM is refined by excluding occlusions of more confident points by less confident ones and smoothed with due account of the confidence values. Experiments with RADIUS model-board images show that the final refined and smoothed DEM gives a feasible approximation to the desired terrain.

متن کامل3d Shape Reconstruction from Multiple Range Image Views
Shape reconstruction of different three dimensional objects using multiple range images has evolved recently within the recent past. In this research shape reconstruction of a three dimensional object using multiple range image views is investigated. Range images were captured using the Waikato Range Imager. This range images camera is novel in that it uses heterodyne imaging and is capable of ...
متن کاملProjective Reconstruction from Pairwise Overlapping Multiple Views
In this work we address the problem of projective reconstruction from multiple views with missing data. Factorization based algorithms require point correspondences across all the views. In many applications this is an unrealistic assumption. Current methods that solve the problem of projective reconstruction with missing data require correspondence information across triplets of images. We pro...
متن کاملVolumetric Scene Reconstruction from Multiple Views
A review of methods for volumetric scene reconstruction from multiple views is presented. Occupancy descriptions of the voxels in a scene volume are constructed using shape-from-silhouette techniques for binary images, and shapefrom-photo-consistency combined with visibility testing for color images.

When a disparity map is computed from widely separated images the perspective distortion may result in a large number of false matches and poor reconstruction accuracy. This paper describes three image matching algorithms designed speciically to process images taken from widely varying viewpoints. They include a new match score, and modiications to standard subpixel and hierarchical matching te...
